Stripe Identity Verification

Stripe, Inc. is best known for their secure payment processing around the world. We use Stripe for payment processing and other services. We also use Stripe Identity to verify the identity of certain users (hosts and some guests) and prevent fraud.

InsiderBnb indefinitely stores data in our database(s) about each and every payment and identity verification session, but we do not store images of government IDs or detailed verification data from Stripe Identity Verification in our database(s).

We use Stripe Identity to verify government IDs. We never store your ID images or extracted ID details on our own servers. Stripe stores this verification data for us for a short period so we can resolve onboarding issues and combat obvious fraud.

We instruct Stripe via their API to redact your verification data from our Stripe account about 45 days after your verification completes. After that, we can no longer access your ID or detailed verification data—only a record that your account successfully passed verification on a given date. Stripe may retain limited information independently for fraud prevention and regulatory purposes as described in Stripe’s privacy policy. Please note that we act in good faith to cause Stripe to redact your verification data from our Stripe account about 45 days after your verification completes, it is possible that due to our or others' errors or oversights, your verification data may not be redacted from our Stripe account.

Stripe has its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service that apply to their services and affect both InsiderBnb and our users. These are separate from InsiderBnb's terms and privacy policy. Here is a link to information about how ID verification information is used and stored by Stripe: “Managing your ID verification information” . We use Stripe Identity to verify government IDs. By default, Stripe keeps verification data available in our Stripe account for up to 3 years. We configure Stripe to shorten this window / redact verification sessions so that, after your verification is complete, Stripe no longer retains your ID images and detailed verification data ("PII") in their systems on our behalf beyond about 45 days. Stripe may (and likely does) continue to retain some information independently for fraud prevention and regulatory purposes, as described in Stripe’s Privacy Policy , but we don’t needlessly keep full copies of your ID or verification details.

We do not charge renters ("guests") any service or referral fees.

• Some property owners / managers pay a flat monthly fee of about $10, to remove ads.

• Some property owners / managers pay to have their properties discovered or featured.

• We provide an optional $29 service to verify a renter's identity. We display a "verified" badge and expiration data next to the user's public profile page, which includes basic information such as the user's display name, (optional) profile photo, and verified status. A host who ends-up renting or otherwise in contact with a verified user would be able to connect that user with their InsiderBnb public profile.
